Qualifications & Memberships

I am an experienced psychodynamic psychotherapist and Qualified Accredited Member (APAQAM) of Ayanay Psychological Accreditation (APA) (QAM-1250). I hold a MSc. Psychological Therapies, Practice and Research (Psychodynamic/Psychoanalytic Therapy) from the University of Exeter. I hold a Ph.D. in Developmental Neuropathology from UCL, based on clinical and neuroscientific research within Great Ormond Street Hospital concerning childhood epilepsy and neural stem cells. I am continuing to develop my research and professional training to become an Academic Jungian Analyst.

In addition to my private practise, I work with Headstuff ADHD Therapy, an innovative multidisciplinary assessment and support service for adults, children and families affected by ADHD. I have previously provided longterm psychotherapy with Raphael Counselling and with Norwood’s psychotherapy service for parents with children following a life changing medical diagnosis.

My background in community mental health further informs my therapeutic practise, notably my work with the mental health charity Jami, mitigating barriers to recovery through peer-led initiatives within the Jewish community, which incorporated the diverse lived experiences of staff and clients alike.

Personal Statement

I support individuals to unravel the complex and contradictory meanings of their present difficulties and desires, addressing what is left unspoken, unacknowledged and unconscious, through potentially exploring how early experiences continue to impact our lives.

I offer weekly psychodynamic psychotherapy with adults, in-person or remotely. This is an ongoing, non-judgmental, in-depth talk therapy in a safe and confidential space.

Combining psychoanalytic and Jungian approaches with my experience as a therapeutic peer practitioner I offer a unique therapy process that can be profoundly transformative and healing. From which you can discover your hidden potential and the unique gifts you bring to the world. This is a rare and valuable opportunity in our increasingly metric-driven and competitive society..

I have significant experience working with:

How I Work

The therapy I provide develops uniquely with each person, it is a collaborative, creative and compassionate endeavour.

A consistent and reassuring time and space is created through offering sessions that start and end at the same time each week. The sessions follow a free-flowing, undirected dynamic. I do not teach, advise, offer homework or measure outcomes. Instead I approach each session anew, with no restrictions or expectations. This can prove particularly beneficial for those who have experiences of anxiety and shame around demands for ‘homework’ from school, employment, or even from other therapists.

The emphasis is yours — your experiences, questions, thoughts, feelings and dreams. Unlike the demands typical of social chitchat, I generally won’t share personal experiences or opinions; instead I strive to listen deeply. This can be a liberating and challenging encounter because it’s so unlike anything one normally experiences. We will create a space together in which you do not have to be nice, polite, rational, calm or pleasing to others (including to myself as your therapist). Instead finding your authentic voice, to finally speak your mind, and have your truth(s) heard.

The psychoanalytic and Jungian approaches allow you to discover new perspectives for understanding your experiences, challenges and traumas. Psychoanalysis is concerned with the individual’s unconscious, exploring early childhood while Jungian depth psychology integrates societal and transpersonal perspectives looking at how we have been impacted by the wider collective.

I have observed over many years that this type of therapy is applicable and beneficial to almost anyone. Many are surprised to discover that working at psychological depth feels quite natural and intuitive.

Practicalities

WHERE?

I provide therapy in-person and remotely by telephone and online via Zoom (other video communications can be considered).

I have extensive experience providing therapy in-person and remotely i.e. tele-therapy. I recognise the unique and valuable therapeutic experience tele-therapy offers many, especially when in-person therapy is not feasible or necessarily best. Tele-therapy can also provide a space for those curious but uncertain about having in-person therapy.

I also work with individuals whose preference is exclusively to have in-person therapy.

DURATION

I offer open-ended therapy, however I can discuss working for a specified duration. There are breaks throughout the year, which will be detailed in advance. These tend to follow the English school year and include English bank holidays. Sessions are 50 minutes each.

FEES

The initial two introductory session costs a total of £50. These two sessions provide an opportunity to discuss what has brought you to therapy, to experience therapy with me and to frankly think together if the particular type of therapeutic and healing work I offer feels a good match for you.

I welcome you to feel empowered to say ‘no’ to taking the work any further. You will not have to explain yourself. Simply the opportunity to say no can be, by itself, tremendously therapeutic.

The cost of individual therapy is then £85 per session. Fees are payable monthly by bank transfer. I am happy to provide a receipt.

CANCELLATION POLICY

I have a 48 hour cancellation policy. Sessions not attended for any reason, without notice will be charged in full.
